PRISM at SENSE ISLAND
Sense Island - Island of the Senses" was held on Sarushima, an island of art in the dark, where the interactive installation art "prism" was exhibited. Looking back on its history, Sarushima was an island of the former Japanese army, and was an important military base to protect Tokyo Bay from enemy invasion. For the installation, I laid out prisms on the beach based on the outline of Sarushima and the site of the former gun battery. The prisms emit a beautiful light when illuminated by a light like a lighthouse. Visitors sat on the sand, manipulated the light, and stroked the beach as they wished, causing countless chains of light to cover the beach. As the light caresses the hearts of the people watching, it fleetingly catches up with them and disappears, illuminating their hearts. With the night view of Yokosuka on the other side of the river in the distance, this work brings up the memories engraved on Sarushima with beautiful light.
